U42C - Panel Discussion: Discussion on Sexual Harassment in the Sciences and Progress in This Area
Lecture Instructional

Since the release of the National Academies’ report Sexual Harassment of Women, academic institutions have begun to focus efforts on addressing the system-wide problems within the academia and to develop approaches and take actions aimed at preventing sexual harassment. Facilitated by the National Academies, the Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education is working to elevate promising practices for preventing and addressing sexual harassment. The Action Collaborative focuses their work on four areas: prevention, response, remediation, and evaluation. This panel session will provide information about the Action Collaborative and highlight some of the work being done by members of the Action Collaborative or the Action Collaborative’s advisory committee. The panelists will provide brief presentations and remarks, leaving time for discussion and creative brainstorming with attendees about novel and improved approaches to preventing, responding, and remediating sexual harassment, and about evaluating such approaches.
