PA31H - Science to Action: Enabling Science to Have Social Impact Through Innovations by Individuals, Organizations, and Research Programs II Posters
Other Events

To bring science out of the lab and into the real world, individuals, organizations, and research programs have strived to create opportunities for researchers and users of science to work in partnership to identify, characterize, and develop solutions to address environmental impacts.  This work of coproducing knowledge is increasingly popular and experimented with across research disciplines and sectors. In this session, we highlight innovations that foster and incentivize bringing scientific information into decision-making activities, processes, and operations.  We share examples from individual projects, boundary organizations, and research programs that illustrate this work in practice, present metrics that indicate its effectiveness, and share where challenges arise in communication, managing expectations, sustainable funding, and program evaluation. Join us in sharing lessons learned on how science can be both socially and scientifically impactful and the ways in which institutional barriers have been overcome.
