Proposal Submissions

The call for proposals will be open from 23 September to 26 October (23:50 EDT/03:59 +1 GMT).
You can electronically any time the submission site is open until 26 October.
Yes, a first author can submit more than one time. Please consider the focus of each track and potential session as you submit to ensure that it is within scope.
See session formats page. Unless the submission is specifically for a poster session, proposals might be considered for any of the sessions within the track

Yes. The submission fee is required and is non-refundable, separate from meeting registration fees. It is not based on approval of your submission or attendance at the meeting.

The submission fees are:

  • Regular submission — $50
  • Student submission — $25

Fees will be waived for applicants from a low-income or lower-middle-income countries as defined by the World Bank.  

Yes. Authors will select in-person or online presenting as part of the submission process, and the program committee will assign presentations based on this selection.
Yes. All presenting authors must register for and attend OVS23, either online or in-person.
Authors are notified of the acceptance, format and schedule in early February.

Registration

The online registration tool will open on 9 January 2023. Attendees can register throughout the duration of the summit.

Your registration fee includes access to scientific sessions, plenaries, and informal networking. All attendees, including presenters and conveners, must register for the Ocean Visions Summit to gain access to #OVS23.

Reduced registration rates are extended to everyone who registers for the meeting prior to the early bird deadline of 15 February 2023. Payment must be received by the noted deadline to receive the early bird rate.

Written notifications must be emailed to [email protected]. Registration cancellation received by 21 February 2023 will receive complete refund. Cancellations received between 22 and 28 February will have a $50 USD processing fee deducted from their refund. No refunds will be issued for cancelled registrations or ticketed events after 7 March 2023.

AGU will accept credit card, check and wire transfer payments. To process group registration payments, contact the OVS Registration Center. The last day to submit payment via wire transfer or check is 1 March 2023.

A registration receipt can be obtained by emailing the OVS Meetings Team.
Guests are not permitted at the summit.
AGU does not accept purchase orders for registration payment.
A letter of attendance can be obtained by emailing the OVS Meetings Team.

Hotel and Travel

The Hilton Atlanta is the official hotel for summit. It is within easy walking distance of the aquarium with an affordable rate.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is the closest airport. The Georgia Aquarium is approximately 10 miles from the airport. ATL is the busiest airport in the country and averages 2,700 arrivals and departures daily.

The average maximum temperature in April is 71°F/22°C. The average low temperature is 51°F/11°C. Spring showers are fairly frequent in April, so attendees are encouraged to pack an umbrella.
