#AGU21 welcomes you to this year’s Fall Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, 13-17 December. To help you prepare, we’ve put together this quick reference guide so you’re ready for a successful event. For even more details, visit the AGU website and mobile app where you’ll find the event schedule, speakers, health and safety procedures, transportation and accessibility policies.

Before the Meeting

American Geophysical Union (AGU) is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all Fall Meeting participants and staff. Please review our safety plans and ensure that you have secured your SafeAccess health check prior to arrival.

SafeAccess Health Check

  • Attendees will receive an email invitation to SafeAccess from "[email protected]", please sort through Junk folder if not received in Inbox and whitelist this address
  • Click the link in the invitation, create a password. 
  • Click on the Event Logo on their screen.
  • Begin the Pre-screening check in process
  • Once completed, you will receive a yellow pending message.  When the SafeAccess Trusted Reviewer has completed reviews, that status will change to green

NEW:  All International visitors, regardless of vaccination status or nationality, now have to test within 1 day of their flight instead of 3. For more information please visit U.S. Department of State travel guidance.

View the latest program agenda of keynotes, innovation, union, named lectures, poster and eLightening sessions and build your personal schedule.  Pre-recorded content is available for viewing.  If you started a schedule in Confex, it will sync if you used the same email address as for registration!

  • Headphones - Attendees will be given a receiver unit, along with a headset, in order to access the multiple simultaneous audio feeds.  Personal headphones are also welcome, but they must have a physical plug into the receiver, Bluetooth not accessible.
  • Water bottle -Water bottle filling stations were installed in the Convention Center lobbies and next to all bathrooms – more than 60 in total! Refill locations available in the mobile app.
  • Headshot Cafe- Professional clothes for a formal headshot.  Visit the Exhibit Hall on 13. December between 3:00 – 6:00pm (15:00- 18:00) and 14. December – 16. December between 10:30am – 6:00pm (10:30 – 18:00)
  • Early childhood education STEM Book – Bring your favorite STEM story for kids! Donated children's STEM books will be given to the Leo Kerner Elementary School in Lafitte, Louisiana. The school was directly impacted by hurricane Ida, suffering 150 mph winds, a broken levee and several feet of mud. Donations are welcome and appreciated.

Louisiana is in the Central Standard Time (CST) Zone. Central is two hours ahead of the Pacific time zone (California), and one hour behind the Eastern time zone (New York). All conference events will be hosted in CST.

December average temperature in New Orleans, Louisiana reaches 64°F (approximately 18°C) during the day but at night can dip as low as 48°F (approximately 9°C).

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport offers easy access to Downtown New Orleans, the French Quarter, and the Central Business District by taxi, car rental, shuttle and public transportation.

  • Search for AGU Events in the Apple Store or Google Play.
  • Make sure your device is running iOS Version 13+ or Android Version 8+. Note that some Android devices with limited memory are not supported (e.g. Moto G4 & Moto G5).
  • Sign in using your AGU email address and password that you used to register for Fall Meeting.

  • Bookmark the #AGU21 website and click on the link to enter the online meeting platform.
  • Use Chrome or Safari for the best viewing experience.
  • Ensure to turn off any ad and pop up blockers you have added to your browser or your system as these tools will prevent you from logging in and may incorrectly limit visibility of event related content or limit functionality that requires a popup (e.g. authentication).
  • Sign in using your AGU email address and password that you used to register for Fall Meeting.

All live video events will take place in Zoom. We recommend you download and install the latest version of Zoom in advance and familiarize yourself with it. You can go to https://zoom.us/test at any time to test your audio and video. We have included a few basic pointers for using Zoom on the virtual meeting platform here.

When You Arrive

Due to safety precautions, each registrant and guest will need to provide their health check identification prior to badge pick up.  AGU requires everyone (attendee, guest, caretaker) attending Fall Meeting to visit the registration desk to collect conference materials.

Attendees that are pre-registered and received their SafeAccess verification approval can pick up their badge and event credentials at any registration location.

Fall Meeting 2021 includes several in-person and online field trips that will highlight the local geology, ecological systems, and scientific institutions of New Orleans, Louisiana. Event description and gathering locations are available in the mobile app.

AGU Fall Meeting will offer a wide array of opportunities to help participants connect with colleagues and create valuable relationships like Braindates, SpatialChat, receptions and AGU Central.

Join us outside the New Orleans Convention Center the evening of 16 December to celebrate the kick off of LUNA Fête, an annual festival of light, art, and technology created to demonstrate the power of art to transform communities.
