Writing a Strong Abstract
Submitting an abstract to AGU25 is your chance to connect with a global network of Earth and space scientists. A well-crafted abstract can set your research apart and secure your spot at the meeting. Here's how to make yours stand out.

1. Start with a Clear, Compelling Title

Your title is the first thing reviewers and attendees will see—make it count. It should be:

  • Descriptive of your research focus.
  • Concise (300-character limit).
  • Engaging, while avoiding jargon.

2. Write a Focused Abstract Text

Your abstract (maximum 2,000 characters, including punctuation but excluding spaces) should be:

  • Structured around your scientific results or their application.
  • Clear on the purpose, methods, findings and implications.
  • Free of unnecessary background or future plans—stick to what’s been done and what it means.

3. Write a Plain-Language Summary (Optional)

Highly recommended, a plain-language summary (200-word limit) can:

  • Make your research accessible to a wider audience, including reporters.
  • Help public and interdisciplinary visibility.
  • Increase your abstract’s chances of being highlighted or shared.

4. Include One Image (Optional)

You may upload one image to support your abstract. Make sure it: Is high-resolution and relevant. Aids in understanding, and is not just decoration.

5. Presentation Preferences

You can indicate your preference for a poster-only presentation or in-person/online participation.
