Nomination packages must not exceed two pages and should succinctly address the following:
- The candidate’s history of conducting relevant, cutting-edge research in a discipline related to the cryosphere sciences
- How the candidate’s prominent research would complement past Nye Lecture presentations
- The candidate’s merit as a prominent cryosphere science community member
- The candidate’s ability to effectively communicate to an audience of non-specialists in the cryosphere sciences
- The nominee’s name, area of expertise, and potential lecture topics. We encourage a diversity of nationality, race, gender, and career stage in nominees
2026 Review Timeline
- 5 January: Submission period opens
- 13 March: Submission period closes
- 1 April -13 May: Selection committees review nomination packages
- 18 May: Recommendation reports due to staff
- 12 June: Section President Approval of Recommendation Reports Due
- TBD September: 2026 Section award and lecture recipients announced

Conflict of Interest
Nominators must follow AGU's conflict of interest policy to avoid the appearance of bias.
Read Policy Two-Page Limit
Unless otherwise noted, no one component of the nomination package may exceed two pages. AGU will remove any additional pages before sharing with the review committee.
Posthumous Nominations
AGU does not accept nominations for candidates posthumously.
Duplicate Nominations
If duplicate nominations for the same candidate are submitted, AGU will only review the first submitted.
Co-Nominations
A maximum of two nominators may submit a nomination together.
