I bring an international and interdisciplinary perspective shaped by a career at the interface between mineral physics, rock mechanics, and materials science. Working across European and global communities, I have developed an appreciation for different scientific cultures, approaches, and ways of framing problems. My work focuses on linking mechanisms across scales, which naturally connects communities that do not always interact closely. I see this diversity of perspectives as a strength and would aim to foster dialogue across disciplines and approaches within the Mineral and Rock Physics (MRP) community.

Volunteer experience that you feel relates to this position:

I have a long-standing commitment to scientific societies, including serving as President of the French Society of Mineralogy and Crystallography and of the International Mineralogical Association. In these roles, I worked to support community activities, promote collaboration across disciplines, and engage an international membership—experience I believe aligns well with the responsibilities of this position.

Section presidents and presidents-elect serve as members of the AGU Council and lead their sections. The AGU Council is a diverse forum of perspectives that meets throughout the year to provide input to the AGU Board, staff, and other parts of the organization. Three communities within the Council - committee chairs, section leaders, and students and early career scientists - serve different roles in AGU and bring unique viewpoints to ongoing discussions.

This role aims to catalyze community and build AGU as envisioned by the strategic plan. This leadership position is a dual role: helping to advance AGU’s strategic plan as a member of Council; and leading your section. How would you support the Board, staff and other sections to achieve AGU’s vision, values, mission, and goals? How will you engage with members of your section to execute AGU’s strategic plan?

I would contribute to the AGU Council by working collaboratively with the Board, staff, and other section leaders to support the implementation of the strategic plan. I see this role as one of coordination and alignment, ensuring that diverse perspectives are integrated into collective decisions. Given the inherently interdisciplinary nature of Mineral and Rock Physics, I would also encourage interactions with related sections, helping to strengthen connections across communities.

Within the MRP section, my priority would be to maintain a strong and engaged scientific community. This includes supporting high-quality AGU sessions, encouraging participation from early career scientists, and fostering an environment where different approaches and perspectives can interact productively. I believe that MRP has a unique role in bridging disciplines, and I would aim to reinforce this position.

More generally, I see the role of section president as facilitating communication between the community and AGU leadership, ensuring that members feel represented and engaged while contributing constructively to the broader goals of the organization.
