Helping New Postdocs Attend AGU26

AGU Postdoctoral Travel Grants provide funds to assist Postdoctoral researchers, fellows, and scholars with a combination of costs associated with attending the AGU Annual Meeting. AGU Postdoctoral Travel Grant assist in paying costs associated with attending the event in-person.

The Postdoctoral Travel Grant will be open for applications 2 July - 12 August.

  • $1,000 USD (in-person attendees)

Evaluation Process

Applications are evaluated on the following:
PRIMARY EVALUATION

Applicants are initially reviewed based on the following criteria:

  • Demographic backgrounds underrepresented in Earth and space science
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Applicants who have never studied outside of their home country
SECONDARY EVALUATION

Applicants who move through the first round of selection are then reviewed on the following criteria:

  • How receiving a travel grant would reduce barriers to participation in AGU's Annual Meeting 
  • The unique perspective the applicant would bring to the broader AGU community
  • Applicant's plan to engage with the AGU community
  • How participating in the AGU Annual Meeting will benefit applicant's personal and professional goals

Eligibility

Applicant
The applicant must
  • be the first author and presenting a paper or poster at the 2026 AGU Annual Meeting
  • attend AGU26 in person
  • be an active AGU member
  • be employed in a post doctorate position at the time of the AGU Annual Meeting
    • qualifying position titles include but are not limited to: Postdoctoral researcher/fellow/scholar, Visiting fellow/scholar, and research fellow
  • show financial ability to attend the AGU Meeting in addition to Travel Grant funds
  • have successfully submitted an abstract prior to filling out a travel grant application
  • include the abstract reference number on the application
