A complete nomination package consists of the following items merged into one PDF file:
A nomination letter detailing how the nominee meets the selection criteria, including details about the nominee’s outstanding contributions to research in Sun-Earth systems science that further the understanding of plasma physical processes and their applications for the benefit of society. The letter must contain the nominator’s name, title, institution, contact information and signature. Letterhead is preferred.
The nominee’s curriculum vitae, that includes the candidate’s name, address, email, history of employment, degrees, research experience, honors, memberships and service to the community (committee work, advisory boards, etc.).
A selected bibliography stating the total number and types of publications and the number published by AGU.
Two letters of support not including the nomination letter, including the supporter’s signature, name, title, institution, and contact information. Letterhead is preferred. Letters from individuals not currently or recently associated with the candidate’s institution of graduate education or employment are encouraged.

- 5 January: Submission period opens
- 13 March: Submission period closes
- 1 April -13 May: Selection committees review nomination packages
- 18 May: Recommendation reports due to staff
- 12 June: Section President Approval of Recommendation Reports Due
- TBD September: 2026 Section award and lecture recipients announced
