A complete nomination package consists of the following:
A nomination letter that states how the nominee meets the selection criteria. It should include details about significant contributions to the planetary sciences, particularly for a nominee at an early career stage. Nominator’s name, title, institution and contact information and a one-sentence citation at the beginning of the letter. Letterhead is preferred.
The nominee’s curriculum vitae, that includes the candidate’s name, address, email, history of employment, degrees, research experience, honors, memberships and service to the community (committee work, advisory boards, etc.).
A selected bibliography stating the total number and types of publications and the number published by AGU.
Three letters of support (separate from the nomination letter) with the supporter’s name, title, institution and contact information. Letterhead is preferred. Two letters must be from individuals not currently or recently associated with the candidate’s institution of graduate education or employment.
2026 Review Timeline
- 5 January: Submission period opens
- 13 March: Submission period closes
- 1 April -13 May: Selection committees review nomination packages
- 18 May: Recommendation reports due to staff
- 12 June: Section President Approval of Recommendation Reports Due
- TBD September: 2026 Section award and lecture recipients announced
