Alain Pumir
Research Director, Ecole Normale Superieure Lyon
Alain Pumir studied physics at the École normale supérieure in Paris, and obtained his PhD in 1987 under the supervision of Yves Pomeau. After a postdoc at Cornell University (USA), he joined the statistical physics laboratory at ENS Paris in 1989. Between 1992 and 2008, he worked in Nice, and joined the Physics Laboratory at ENS Lyon in 2008. His research focuses on turbulence (intermittency) and particle transport, with applications in particular to cloud microphysics.
