I work in interdisciplinary teams to study climate change from the perspective of coupled socio-environmental systems, synthesizing individual and social behavior with environmental science and engineering to inform policy on climate mitigation and adaptation. I led Vanderbilt's Interdisciplinary Grand Challenge Initiative on Climate and Society and co-chaired the creation of an interdisciplinary major in Climate Studies that integrates humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
