I investigate crustal deformation, active rifting, and seismogenesis by combining field geology, geophysics, and geomechanics. My current interests are in early-stage continental rifting, and earthquake genesis at active plate boundaries and stable continental regions. My natural labs include the East African Rift System and Walker Lane (rifting), Central and Eastern U.S. and West/Western Central Africa (intraplate seismicity).
