A complete nomination package should be submitted as a single PDF file and consist of the following:
A nomination letter containing the nominator’s name, title, institution and contact information and a one-sentence citation at the beginning of the letter. The letter should detail the nominee’s significant contributions to Earth and planetary surface processes. Letterhead is preferred.
The nominee’s curriculum vitae, that includes the candidate’s name, address, email, history of employment, degrees, research experience, honors, memberships and service to the community (committee work, advisory boards, etc.).
A selected bibliography stating the total number and types of publications and the number published by AGU.
Two to three letters of support (separate from the nomination letter) with the supporter’s name, title, institution and contact information. Letterhead is preferred.
2026 Review Timeline
- 5 January: Submission period opens
- 13 March: Submission period closes
- 1 April -13 May: Selection committees review nomination packages
- 18 May: Recommendation reports due to staff
- 12 June: Section President Approval of Recommendation Reports Due
- TBD September: 2026 Section award and lecture recipients announced
