The Hydrology Section has adopted a two-round selection process to promote openness and efficiency. The award committee reviews the first round of nominations and requests full nomination packages from a select number of applicants (nominally 5) for further consideration. The requirements for both first and second round packages are outlined below:


Initial Nomination Package


Nomination Letter

A nomination letter no more than two pages in length, addressing the nominee’s qualifications to meet the selection criteria and listing at least three potential writers of letters of support.

CV

The nominee’s curriculum vitae, no more than two pages in length, that includes the candidate’s name, address, email, history of employment, degrees, research experience, honors, memberships and service to the community.

Optional Bibliography

A selected bibliography, no more than two pages in length, stating the total number and types of publications and the number published by AGU.


Second Round Nomination Package

CV And Bibliography

Please use the same CV and Bibliography submitted during the first round.

Letters of Support

Up to three letters of support, each no more than two pages in length. One Letter of support is required.

2024 Review Timeline

Round One
  • 17 January: Nomination period opens
  • 1 March: Nomination period closes
  • April – 10 May: Selection committees review nominations
  • May: Nominators notified about whether their nominee will move forward to the second round
Round Two
  • 15 May: Submission period opens
  • 15 June: Submission period closes
  • June - July: Selection committees review nomination packages
  • 22 July: Committee Recommendation due
  • September: 2024 Section Honors recipients announced

Heads Up!

AGU reserves the right to reject, without review, nominations that do not follow all eligibility requirements. These include:
Conflict of Interest
Nominators must follow AGU's conflict of interest policy to avoid the appearance of bias.
Read Policy
Two-Page Limit
Nominations must not be longer than two pages. AGU will remove any additional pages before sharing with the review committee.
Posthumous Nominations
AGU does not accept nominations for candidates posthumously.
Duplicate Nominations
If duplicate nominations for the same candidate are submitted, AGU will only review the first submitted.
Co-Nominations
A maximum of two nominators may submit a nomination together.
