A complete nomination package consists of the following:
A nomination letter from the nominee’s research advisor(s) containing the nominator’s name, title, institution and contact information. The letter should outline the impact or potential impact of the nominee’s research on solar-planetary science. Letterhead is preferred.
The nominee’s curriculum vitae, that includes the candidate’s name, address, email, history of employment, degrees, research experience, honors, memberships and service to the community (committee work, advisory boards, etc.).
A selected bibliography stating the total number and types of publications and the number published by AGU.
One to three letters of support (separate from the nomination letter) with the supporter’s name, title, institution and contact information. Letterhead is preferred.
For an English dissertation provide a five-page extended summary of the dissertation that discusses the context for the dissertation, the major findings and their significance. For a non-English dissertation provide an extended summary for every chapter of the dissertation, written in English, that discusses the dissertation’s context, major findings, and their significance.
2026 Review Timeline
- 5 January: Submission period opens
- 13 March: Submission period closes
- 1 April -13 May: Selection committees review nomination packages
- 18 May: Recommendation reports due to staff
- 12 June: Section President Approval of Recommendation Reports Due
- TBD September: 2026 Section award and lecture recipients announced
