A complete nomination package consists of the following:
A nomination letter containing the nominator’s name, title, institution and contact information and a one-sentence citation at the beginning of the letter. The letter should include details about the nominee’s original contributions to the basic knowledge of natural hazards or disaster risks, how the candidate’s research has made a significant impact on their field, and a concise history of the candidate's work and publications. The letter should also outline how the work has contributed to the field, what insights have been gained, and what impacts the work will have on future research. Letterhead is preferred.
The nominee’s curriculum vitae, that includes the candidate’s name, address, email, history of employment, degrees, research experience, honors, memberships and service to the community (committee work, advisory boards, etc.).
A selected bibliography stating the total number and types of publications and the number published by AGU.
Two to four letters of support (separate from the nomination letter) with the supporter’s name, title, institution and contact information. Letterhead is preferred.
2026 Review Timeline
- 5 January: Submission period opens
- 13 March: Submission period closes
- 1 April -13 May: Selection committees review nomination packages
- 18 May: Recommendation reports due to staff
- 12 June: Section President Approval of Recommendation Reports Due
- TBD September: 2026 Section award and lecture recipients announced
