A complete nomination package consists of the following items merged into one PDF file. No one item should exceed two pages.
A nomination letter that states how the nominee meets the selection criteria, such as educational accomplishments, demonstrated leadership, and overall research or societal impact, including details about the scientific excellence of the nominee’s body of published work, as well as how their work is influential and interdisciplinary. The letter should contain the nominator’s name, title, signature, institution and contact information and a one-sentence citation at the beginning of the letter. Letterhead is preferred.
The nominee’s curriculum vitae, that includes the candidate’s name, address, email, history of employment, degrees, research experience, honors, memberships and service to the community (committee work, advisory boards, etc.).
A selected bibliography stating the total number and types of publications and the number published by AGU.
One to two letters of support not including the nomination letter, including the supporter’s signature, name, title, institution, and contact information. Letterhead is preferred. Letters from individuals not currently or recently associated with the candidate’s institution of graduate education or employment are encouraged.
Up to three published or in-press manuscripts that illustrate the candidate’s outstanding contributions to the fields of paleoceanography and paleoclimatology.

- TBD September: 2026 Section award and lecture recipients announced
