The Ewing Medal Committee is charged with selecting the recipient of the Ewing Medal. Members of this committee are appointed by the AGU President and are expected to adhere to all policies and procedures in accordance with the Honors and Recognition Committee guidance. At the end of the selection process, the Council Leadership Team reviews the work of each selection committee to ensure the process was followed and to identify ways to improve it for the future. This insight is provided to the Honors and Recognition Committee and staff partners.

• Review nomination packages for the Ewing Medal and select the recipient. Submit a report each year outlining the process the committee followed for review by the Council Leadership Team.
• Work in partnership with AGU staff to understand the policies and procedures, including conflict of interest, implicit bias, diversity and inclusion, etc.
• Provide feedback to nominators regarding nominations that are not successful in a given year.
• Provide feedback and recommendations to the Honors and Recognition Committee on program improvements.
