Continuing the Journey

To foster a more transparent, inclusive and creative way to employ open science in the scientific community, AGU has implemented a continuation of AGU23 to allow all registered attendees the opportunity to collaborate and network in a virtual format. This journey is an extension of AGU23 that provides a safe and fun way for scientists to share their research and data amongst fellow colleagues during the live online sessions.

Know Before You Attend

AGU23 Continuing the Journey will take place 22-25 January 2024. It is open to all persons who registered for the annual meeting by 15 December 2023. Additional tickets were available for purchase during the registration process for the various workshops being offered.

Session Formats

AGU23 Continuing the Journey will offer various session formats that foster and encourage discussion.

Online Poster Sessions

This session format provides presenters with the opportunity to create interactive presentations to display their research using high-resolution images, videos and animations, voice-over narrations and scrolling content.

During this session, brief presentations will be followed by a moderated group discussion. Presenters also have the option to schedule additional online chat times throughout the duration of the journey.

Learning Workshops

These workshops will provide professional development skills-building opportunities to explore practical skills in open science, community science, science advocacy or inclusive science. To attend these post-conference workshops, an additional ticket was required during registration.

Kick-Off Event: Climate Grief and Resilience in a World of Warning Signals

A growing body of evidence is fueling concerns on how our changing climate threatens human well-being with anxiety, depression, and other manifestations of "darkness." This serious but fun AGU23 Learning Workshop, taking place virtually on 22 January from 1:00 - 2:30 PM PT, will help foster a sense of direction as a community focused on constructively understanding and responding to climate grief.

Town Halls

Town Halls are events that are best for collecting feedback or raising awareness for individuals from government agencies, academic programs, special projects and other focused interest groups via presentation or panel discussion.

Learning Sessions

Learning sessions are free workshops which will provide early career and students opportunities to explore topics to advance their careers.

Volunteer

Evaluate Student Presentations

AGU needs volunteers like you to provide feedback on AGU23 student presentations in the Outstanding Student Presentation Award (OSPA) program. There are currently over 300 OSPA presentations that still need a reviewer.

You can sign up to review presentations in the online sessions, presentations you saw at AGU23 in person, or presentations that have been uploaded to the OSPA platform.

All AGU23 attendees (including students) may volunteer. The deadline to submit evaluations is 31 January.
